"To trace a descent back that far one needs two things, luck and some wealthy ancestors ....."

"1851 Mr. Francis Rashleigh, supposed to be the smallest man in Cornwall…."

We present here some findings from over forty years of intensive research into our family history. It is written up in hard-back book form, by surname, these are made available using the links on the left.

The ancestry is traced for:

FAULKNER London & Bristol
HOLE Somerset, S. Glos & Bristol
WILLIAMS Hereford & Bristol
PRINCE Derbyshire & London
CLARKSON (Catholics)    - Lancs, Beds & London
HEADFORD Bristol, Somerset & New Zealand
GREEN Bristol & South Gloucestershire
RASHLEIGH West Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula
LOVELL Broomfield, Nettlecombe & St Decuman’s in Somerset
BRAY   Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire & Bedminster, Bristol
HOLT Dorset, Somerset & Bristol
ROWE   Constantine in Cornwall
STOODLEY   West Dorset
PASSMORE (of the Brethren)  - Devon
BETTS Southwark

At the present time fifteen books have been written and they are listed above.  These were produced in very limited numbers (none for sale) and deposited in record offices appropriate to the location of the family concerned.  The Society of Genealogists has received a copy of each volume.  The printing and professional binding of each volume was quite costly which was one very good reason for limiting the numbers.

Today's technology enables this information to to be spread more widely.

There are however some limitations.  Some maps and photographs in the published hard-back are excluded partly for reasons of copyright.  Wills and some other documentation that we have seen and often transcribed are with few exceptions merely listed here with their location and reference.  We laboriously abstracted information from parish registers over many years and have usually included this except for certain families where the system was in danger of being overloaded.  Similar considerations apply to abstracts of census returns.  All this information is included in the hard-back version.

To assist researchers there are indexes listing locations, occupations & related families mentioned in the narrative.

"Birth briefs" for both authors (Faulkner Tree & Green Tree) are included to clarify the relationship of the various families to each other.
